5 Warning Signs of Dental Problems in Dogs

Can you imagine how your teeth would look and feel if you did not brush regularly                                                         Warning_Signs
or if you never brushed at all? Many people are surprised to learn that their dogs are subject to the same dental problems that they are. Your dog’s dental heal this just as important, and it is dependent on the same hygiene that we all accept as necessary for healthy teeth and
gums.

Dental Disease, the Most Common Canine Health Problem
Our veterinarians diagnose dental disease in dogs more than any other problem. Nearly 60% of dogs, 3 and older, we see have gingivitis (gum inflammation), periodontitis disease (loss of bone and/or soft tissue around the teeth), or some other dental problem.

Here are three things you can do to protect your pet from dental disease:

  1. Home Health Care – Brush your dog’s teeth 3-4 times a week. Click here to learn more
  2. Identify problems early – If your pet has any of the 5 warning signs call us right away. Otherwise, make sure your pet is examined yearly as an adult or twice a year as a senior (dogs 7 or older).
  3. Don’t wait if a problem is found – If your pet has been identified as having dental disease don’t wait to get a dental procedure for your pet. Dental Disease only gets worse and more expensive to treat.
