Home Dental Care for Dogs

Dental Disease is preventable in dogs with proper home dental care. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Provide hard food for your pet to chew.
  2. Provide a balanced diet for your dog.
  3. Have your pet’s teeth examined regularly. (Call us for a dental assessment if your dog has any of the 5 Warning Signs of Dental Problems)
  4. Use dental products to prevent dental disease. You can get these items at pet stores or call us and we can order them for your pet.
  • Good – Use dental chews (we like the ones from C.E.T.) Remember to reduce the amount of food as some dental chews are high in calories
  • Better – Use a dental rinse or water additive
  • Best – Brush your dog’s teeth 3-5 times per week using pet toothpaste (people toothpaste is bad for pets)
