Nutritional Counseling
Feeding your pet the right food is vital for your pet’s well being, directly impacting your pet’s health and lifespan. While there are many fine foods available from your local pet store or grocer, many are not as good for your pet. During pet’s wellness visit, we will review your pet’s diet, lifestyle, age, activity level, and special needs to make food recommendations, both type(s) and amount, for your pet. We can also make suggestions for treats.
A Healthy alternative to store bought foods
Looking for a natural pet food that is a healthy substitute to store bought foods? We are now carrying Natura Pet Foods, Innova and Evo foods and, we can special order California Natural. Ask us whether one of these foods is right for your pet. (www.naturapet.com)
If you are feeding your pet treats, please remember to reduce the amount of their regular food appropriately. We sell special treats including:
Reduced Calorie Treats
Hypoallergenic Treats (for pets with allergies)
Dental Treats – both CET Chews and CET Dental Rewards
Please avoid giving your pet “table scraps”, especially chicken or turkey bones. Finally, please use our scale to periodically check your pet’s weight anytime we are open.
Therapeutic Diets (Cats & Dogs)
Sometimes your pet has special nutritional needs and requires a Therapeutic Diet. We carry Iams/Eukanuba Veterinary Diets and Hill’s Prescription Diets. Both product lines are only available from us and not sold in stores.

We order food on Thursdays for shipment the following week. So if your pet is going to need more food from us please call us by noon Thursdays. You may also email us at info@bigcreekpet.com using the Request Refill form.

| Food Case Study – The right food prolongs our cat’s life
In 2000 Super Kitty, a 15 year old Domestic Shorthair, was diagnosed with kidney problems. Dr. Fegan was concerned that unless these problems were addressed, Super Kitty’s kidneys would fail. Super Kitty was put on Iams/Eukanuba Multi-Stage Renal dry cat food and over time the kidneys actually improved. Super Kitty lived another six years until the ripe old age of 21 (over 96 human years old)!
