FAQs: Boarding Cats

Will my cat be happy in a boarding kennel?

Cats are boarded in an area separate from the dog kennel. To minimize anxiety we use Feliway, a synthetic calming pheromone in our “Cat Room.”

Should I bring my cat’s food?

Normally, we will feed your favorite feline with food we provide. We use a premium prescription food which is easy on your pet’s digestive system. However, if your pet is on a special diet for a specific medical condition, please bring it along with you.

Can I provide treats for my cat?

Yes, you can provide treats for your pet or, if you prefer, we can provide special treats for a nominal charge.

Do I need to bring bedding for my cat?

No, we provide bedding for your cat. We change it twice a day at the same time we replace your cat’s litter pan.

Are there any requirements necessary before boarding my cat?

All cats that are boarded should be current on their exam, vaccinations and testing. We require your cat be current for Rabies, Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia and Felv/FIV test, Your pet also needs to have had a fecal check within the past 6 months and have been examined by a veterinarian in the past year. Don’t worry though if your cat is overdue for any of these items, as we can perform those to protect your pet.

What happens if my cat gets sick or injured while boarding?

Being in a boarding facility that is a part of Big Creek Pet Hospital, we have found that occasionally pets come in with preexisting conditions that the owner may not notice. This by no means, suggests you are a poor animal owner but as being with trained Medical staff we may notice something in your animal that you as an owner may not. As this is a rarity, If your cat becomes sick or gets injured while boarding here, we will immediately treat your pet. We will try to get a hold of you, if possible, but cannot guarantee our ability to contact you. . Pets will be treated at owner’s expense.

Can my cat get other things done while being boarded?

Yes, you can have your cat can be examined, get vaccinations and tested, groomed, teeth cleaned, or a surgery procedure done while being boarded here. Please coordinate with the Front Desk to schedule and insure availability.
